The man has tried BASE jumping before

The man was reportedly assisted down from the supporting cable using a cherry picker truck. His parachute was deployed incorrectly and caused him to collide with the cables, according to the complaint. He thanked everyone for saving his life. The 20-year-old denied ever jumping from a tower like this before. However, in direct contrast to his story, his social media handle showed that he posted a video of him jumping from a similar tower at an unknown location on September 26, 2019. Later, he admitted to the media that he loved doing it and has been doing it for a long time.

About BASE jumping

Barth could face up to six years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine if he is convicted. Police reportedly stated had he taken precautions he wouldn't have met this outcome. BASE jumping is parachuting from a fixed structure from four categories of fixed objects from which one can jump: building, antenna, span, and earth (cliff). BASE jumping is significantly more dangerous than skydiving from a plane due to the lower altitudes of the jumps. The sport is currently regarded by many as a fringe extreme sport or stunt. The aforementioned man attempted a similar jump.
