''India strongly condemns such acts of terror", says BJP chief Amit Shah in support of Sri Lanka after serial blasts

BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday tweeted condemning the terror attack in Sri Lanka and said he stood in solidarity with the nation. He tweeted expressing pain about learning of the blasts as well as the loss of lives.

BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday tweeted condemning the terror attack in Sri Lanka and said he stood in solidarity with the nation.

He tweeted expressing pain about learning of the blasts as well as the loss of lives.

"Deeply pained to learn about the horrific blasts and loss of precious lives in Sri Lanka. We strongly condemn such acts of terror. India stands firmly with our neighbour nation in these trying times. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those affected."

On Sunday, which was the Easter Sunday, three churches- St Anthony's Church in Colombo, St Sebastian's Church in the western coastal town of Negombo and another church in the eastern town of Batticaloa and three hotels the Shangrila, the Cinnamon Grand, and the Kingsbury were targeted, killing at least156 people and injuring over 400, as per reports.

The blasts occurred at around 8.45 a.m. (local time) as the Easter Sunday masses were in progress, police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said.

Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj expressed her condolence and assured that she is in constant touch with the Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka. 

She has assured that the ministry was in touch with the Indian High Commission in the state and also provided helpline numbers for Indians in distress.
