Italian, Slovenian FMs on borders, economies

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio on Saturday visited his Slovenian counterpart Anze Logar in Ljubljana.

The two ministers discussed various topics including reopening of borders and economic relations amid preparations to lift restrictions imposed to contain the spread of the new coronavirus.

Following their meeting, Di Maio thanked Logar for his "optimism and assurances" regarding the reopening of European borders on June 15.

"We are working towards the Italian aim to consider June 15 (for the reopening) for the whole of Italy in its entirety," he said.

Di Maio also commended the European Central Bank for supporting states by "creating very advantageous market conditions" as European nations start to look towards recovery from the economic impact of the pandemic.
