In a dramatic sequence of events, a Russian Sukhoi Su-27 fighter jet chased off a NATO warplane after it approached a Russian plane carrying the Defence Minister in the neutral waters at the Baltic Sea, according to foreign reports.
Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu was returning to Moscow from Russian Baltic region of Kaliningrad - which is surrounded by Poland and Lithuania when the NATO warplane, a Spanish F-18 jet based in Lithuania, approached the official's plane prompting one of two Russian SU-27 fighter jets accompanying the Defence Minister see it off.
A video of the incident shown on foreign media sources showed a Russian jet sharply banking to the left in the direction of the NATO plane, forcing it to veer leftwards itself.
