Taliban authorities quickly dispersed a protest by women calling for education rights on Thursday in Kabul.

Six women stood outside a government school holding posters that stated education was essential for "human identity," and called for the access to education not to be made political.

Taliban members stood close by brandishing weapons before they moved in to clear the demonstration in the Kart-e-char area of the city.

A spokesperson for the Taliban at the scene stated the group respects people's right to protest but asked that the police should be informed beforehand.
