A cat with a rare condition called diprosopus was born with one body, two heads, and four eyes. Most cats born with the condition, die as soon after they are born, but the kitten - Duo has managed to survive for four months. Duo was rejected by her mother at birth.

Dr Ralph Tran a vet from California has adopted Duo.

‘I was given Duo just a couple of hours after she was born and I was concerned that due to her special anatomy she would not be able to live past a few days, she said. Despite this, her everyday life isn’t too different from other cats – she eats, sleeps and plays with toys! ‘She breaths through both noses and eats through both mouths – and meows from both mouths, sometimes separately and sometimes at the same time," said Dr Ralph.

It was fate

Dr Ralph told international media that he was in the middle of moving from New York to San Diego when he got a flat tire. While waiting for help to arrive, he got a call from a friend who said his cat has given birth to a  "Janus kitten" - a common name for the condition. This friend only lived 30 minutes from where Dr Ralph was stranded. So, once the flat tire was fixed, Dr Ralph headed over to see this special kitty.

'Raising Duo has been an incredible experience'

The doctor told local media that the kitten's condition keeps her from growing like a normal cat. However, Duo has learnt the things a cat usually does like running, walking, or playing. She has even started eating out of a bowl, the doctor said.

"Raising Duo has been an incredibly rewarding experience,” said Dr Ralph.

Despite her difficulties and her condition Duo is doing fine.
