Lions attack zookeeper at Australian zoo, leaves critically injured

A zookeeper is in a critical condition after she was attacked by two lions at an Australian zoo on Friday, New South Wales authorities said. Police said the 35-year-old woman was cleaning the enclosure when she mauled by the lions at the Shoalhaven Zoo south of Sydney.

New South Wales Ambulance Inspector Faye Stockman gave a statement outside the zoo in Nowra, saying a woman was discovered unconscious on the ground with "lacerations to her neck and injuries to her head". The keeper was treated on the scene before being flown by a rescue helicopter to St George Hospital in Sydney.
