Moscow was blanketed with snow on Saturday after a record-breaking blizzard in central areas of Russia.

Over 13,500 snow-clearing trucks were working around the clock in a struggle to keep streets and sidewalks free of snow.

Dozens of accidents crippled traffic in the capital.

Moscow authorities urged people to use public transportation if possible, but many drivers didn't heed the call.

Around 1,500 cubic meters of snow arrived at one of Moscow's snow melting stations.

City authorities said it would take three days to clear the streets.
