Moscow, Riyadh to sign agreement to launch satellite from Saudi Arabia

Kirill Dmitriev, the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund said that Russia and Saudi Arabia will sign an agreement on launching a satellite on October 14.

Kirill Dmitriev, the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund said that Russia and Saudi Arabia will sign an agreement on launching a satellite on October 14. The launching ground for the satellite will be in the Kingdom's territory while the technology used for manufacturing will be Russian. This agreement will be signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to the kingdom. An RDIF led delegation will also accompany President Putin in his state visit with an agenda to include top Saudi officials and focus on condition in Syria. 

The agreement

RDIF CEO told the reporters that Space and advanced technology will be covered by the agreements that are scheduled to be signed on Monday. According to Dmitriev, there is one particular and “interesting” project which will be signed between both the nations to launch a satellite as a joint venture. In a recent interview with an international media, Dmitriev also said Russia's increasing investment in the kingdom is their positive step as opposed to viewing it as going against America. On October 5, Dmitriev even received the highest award by the Kingdom.

The first-meeting

According to the RDIF, the first meeting between Russia and the Saudi Economic Committee, which is also the new body that includes the high-profile businessmen as well as executives. The meeting will take place in the presence of President Vladimir along with the HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Moreover, Russian railways and the Saudi Railways have also signed a cooperation agreement in order to expand the possibilities of transport infrastructure.
