#ThisIsNotConsent rages on Twitter after acquittal of a rape accused in Ireland

Expressing their indignation towards the acquittal of a man accused of rape, in which the lawyer mentions ‘lacy underwear’ of the victim, people in Ireland take on the streets.

Expressing their indignation towards the acquittal of a man accused of rape, in which the lawyer mentions ‘lacy underwear’ of the victim, people in Ireland take on the streets.

Protesting against the victim-shaming of a 17-year old girl, social media is outraging with #ThisIsNotConsent against the 27-year-old accused and the mindset pertaining to rape. 

During the rape trial, the defense lawyer presented the underwear of the teenage in the court, telling the jury to look at the way she was dressed, wearing a lace undergarment.  Leading to outrage in Ireland and eventually catching up on social media, women protested the idea of considering underwear as an implication to consent.
