One dead, 6 injured in Moscow gas explosion

A gas explosion at a residential building in the Moscow region killed one person and injured six others on Saturday, according to the Russian Emergency Ministry.

A gas explosion at a residential building in the Moscow region killed one person and injured six others on Saturday, according to the Russian Emergency Ministry.

A gas-fired water heater reportedly exploded on one of the floors of the residential building in Orekhovo-Zuyevo, 85 kilometers (52 miles) east of Moscow, causing the collapse of five floors.

The Russian Emergency Service and Investigation Committee was on Saturday continuing rescue efforts at the site.
