A Madrid funeral attended by only two mourners on Friday becomes the new norm as social distancing continues in Spain.

A daughter attended her mother's funeral at a Catholic ceremony with only her partner for support.

The deceased, a women over 80 years-old, passed away this week from cancer.

In a state of emergency, no more than two people can attend burials.

Priest Javier Fuenmayor who led the ceremony said the measures have been difficult for mourners to endure alone.

Spain reported Friday a new record number of daily deaths of 769.

Coronavirus cases globally increased to more than 7,800 on Friday, making a total of 64,059 cases.

There have been at least 4,858 deaths.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.

For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
