People mourning the death of basketball legend Kobe Bryant gathered Sunday outside the Mamba Sports Academy, a training facility in California that he co-founded.

Mourners laid flowers in memory of Bryant, his 13 year old daughter Gianna, and seven others who died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

The victims also included John Altobelli, head coach of Southern California's Orange Coast College baseball team, along with his wife, Keri, and daughter, Alyssa, who played in the same team as Bryant's daughter.

The chopper went down in Calabasas, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Authorities said nine people were aboard and presumed dead. Bryant, an all-time basketball great who spent his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, was among the victims, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press.
