A seaside city just outside Lisbon is hoping to test all of its 214,000 residents to assess their possible immunity to COVID-19. Despite not being one of the most affected areas in Portugal, Cascais wants to have a better sense of the new virus' presence to better prepare for the future.

The test is voluntary and will be available for all registered residents. Many within risk groups have been the first to book their tests. The tests used are the ones by pharmaceutical company Roche.

Portugal this week began its second reopening phase, with cafes, restaurants and most businesses open for the first time in more than two months. The country has 30,200 cases confirmed and 1,280 deaths from the coronavirus.
