Chinese president Xi Jinping visited the southeastern Zhejiang province where a major port is resuming work at normal levels, the official China's Central Television reported.

He made multiple stops in Zhejiang province this week including the Chuanshan area, where he went to the Ningbo Zhoushan Port on Sunday.

The resumption of work at the port promotes restoring production in other Chinese enterprises, as well logistics systems, Xi said.

During his visit, Xi stressed the importance of coordinating disease control and economic and social development.

He called for efforts to cope with the adverse impact on cargo shipping brought by the measures adopted by various countries to fight the new coronavirus, according to CCTV.

The city at the center of China's virus outbreak was reopening for business Monday after authorities lifted more of the controls that locked downs tens of millions of people for two months.

While governments worldwide tighten travel and other controls, the ruling Communist Party has rolled back curbs on Wuhan and other areas as it tries to revive the world's second-largest economy after declaring victory over the outbreak.

On Monday, Xi toured a village in Huzhou of Zhejiang province, where he encouraged the villagers to stick to environment-friendly development of economy.

On Tuesday, he visited a national wetland park in the provincial capital city of Hangzhou, where he stressed the importance of protecting the ecologic system while pursuing the growth of tourism.
