Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Monday that deployment of new weapons in Europe by NATO will "unavoidably damage security of the US and its European allies."

Ryabkov explained that such actions "would require a military response on the Russian part, that is a decision to counter this threat through means at our discretion."

The diplomat also said that unless the Russian-speaking community in Ukraine was given more access to resources in Russia, "we'd only see further deterioration of the situation."
