"Shattered with this terrible news", Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh expresses condemnation after 40 killed in terrorist attack at two Mosques in New Zealand

Mass shootings at two mosques full of worshippers attending on Friday, March 15 prayers killed 40 people on what the prime minister called "one of New Zealand's darkest days," as authorities detained four people and defused explosive devices in what appeared to be a carefully planned attack.

Spin bowler Harbhajan Singh has expressed his condolences to those who lost their life in Christchurch mass shooting. Taking to Twitter, the cricketer wrote that "cowards have no religion". 

Meanwhile, Bangladesh cricket team's tour of New Zealand has been called off in the wake of an attack on a mosque which killed several people.

Bangladesh team, which was about to enter the mosque to offer prayers, were left unscathed but the prevailing situation led to the authorities calling off the third and final Test match at the Hagley Oval starting on Saturday, March 16.

According to a report in Cricinfo: "The team was en route to the mosque for Friday prayers at the time of the attack but escaped to the nearby Hagley Oval. They are currently in lockdown at their team hotel."

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern also issued a strong statement and said the events in Christchurch represented "an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence" and acknowledged many of those affected may be migrants and refugees.

In addition to the dead, she said more than 20 people were seriously wounded.
