In the horrific terror attack that hit Sri Lanka on Sunday, a celebrity TV chef and her daughter were among those who were killed, confirmed their relative to Gulf News.

On Sunday, three churches- St Anthony's Church in Colombo, St Sebastian's Church in the western coastal town of Negombo and another church in the eastern town of Batticaloa and three hotels the Shangri La, the Cinnamon Grand, and the Kingsbury were targeted. There were two more blasts in Dematagoda and Dehiwala in the day. 

Shantha Mayadunne, based in Britain, was a household name for the Sri Lankan culinary school and all those who loved cooking. She was also a part of a popular television show on Sri Lankan television.

Just hours before the bombings, Mayadunne’s daughter, Nisanga, who was later killed, shared a photo of the family enjoying Easter breakfast at the Shangri La Hotel, which was among four hotels targeted by suicide bombers.

According to the Sri Lankan police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said that the first blast occurred at around 8.45 a.m. (local time) as the Easter Sunday masses were in progress.

At least three Indians nationals have been killed in the serial blasts that took place on Sunday in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Indian Ministry of External Affairs confirmed on Monday.
