Following the fall, the 'bikini hiker', froze to death as emergency services too were not available due to bad weather. The social media star was on a 25-day hike when stumbled down into a ravine in the central part of Taiwan's Yushan Mountain. Due to the fall, Wu was unable to move and was severely injured.

After many calls of help, the emergency responders were not able to help her due to foul weather conditions. After a period of 28 hours, she was finally airlifted from the ravine but was pronounced dead.

The Instagram star is said to have died from hypothermia. After she passed away, her Facebook pages have been filled with tributes as she was an inspiration to the hiking community. She was all alone on the 25-day tour and had been posting a series of pictures of herself in bikinis from mountain tops.
