Chinese traditional medicine is being deployed in the battle to control the spread of the virus in Wuhan, according to state television.

Experts are combining traditional techniques with western medicine at one of the makeshift hospitals in the city, China's Central Television (CCTV) reported.

The Jiangxia Makeshift Hospital, a former sports centre, is a key location for treating people suffering from COVID-19.

CCTV said 300 kinds of traditional medicine were available from a mobile pharmacy outside the hospital, enabling pharmacists to meet patient requirements within five minutes of being asked.

"All these require a strong combination of the ideas of precise treatment of western medicine and the grand theories of traditional Chinese medicine," said Liu Qingquan, President of Beijing Chinese Medical Hospital, who's been drafted into Wuhan to help combat the epidemic.
