Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged the West to provide further support to his country on Tuesday, as tensions rise over a massive buildup of Russian troops on the border. In a video address to the nation, Zelenskyy called for Europe to help "not just as partners, from the stands, but as players of one team, directly on the field, shoulder to shoulder".

Russia has deployed tens of thousands of troops along the border, but Zelenskyy said Ukraine wasn't afraid. "We have an incredible army and incredible defenders," he said. Zelenskyy also addressed Russian president Vladimir Putin, inviting him "to meet anywhere in the Ukrainian Donbas", the mostly-Russian speaking region of eastern Ukraine where a separatist conflict erupted in 2014. Moscow has rejected Ukraine and Western concerns over the military buildup.
