An Illinois-based woman who received a postcard from 1993 in her mailbox has tracked down the sender after all these years.

The postcard was mailed by a man who sent it to his family more than two decades ago. In a press interview, the postcard receiver Kim Draper said that she was checking her mailbox on July 8 when she found the postcard from '93. The postcard was sent in by a man who was based in Hong Kong during the time:

“I was checking my mail on July 8 and this postcard was in there. It was written by the sender (on July 8, 1993), exactly 26 years ago to the date I took it out of my mailbox. It’s from a dad. He’s sending this postcard from Hong Kong. I don’t know if he’s on vacation. I thought it was really odd that it took 26 years to get to this address. ... I’d really love to get it back (to the sender or recipient), because I think that the dad may have passed by now, and if my dad sent me something, I would want it back.” Kim said

The man named Masrour Kizilbash sent the postcard to his family when he was working overseas in Hong Kong. Apparently, Kizilbash was fascinated with the area and wanted to document his experiences and share it with his family back home. In addition, it came with a letter which read:

"I’m having a good time in this extremely crowded place. These small fishing boats have small restaurants inside. They’re air conditioned and serve fresh seafood. Some time sea food still crawling on your plate. All kinds of sea weeds and food to increase your brain/muscle power and food to increase/decrease everything. I miss Leena (the next word is illegible) very much."

"See you guys soon. Your Dad." it concluded

At the time, Kizilbash's family was staying in Springfield, Illinois and all this while, Kizilbash thought that his family must have received the postcard. Thanks to social media, Kim has tracked the man's son who now lives in suburbs in Chicago. Kim plans to surprise him with a reunion. Officials have said that the postcard must have got stuck in Hong Kong in old equipment.
