Ukraine official provides update on Russia attacks

The spokesman of the Ukrainian Army said Wednesday that Russian forces are trying to take the city of Sievierodonetsk under full control. Systematic fire continued in the Sloviansk direction, Oleksandr Shtupun said. He added that Russia carried out intense artillery shelling on Ukrainian positions near Kharkiv, Staryi Saltov, Rubizhne, and Chepil.

At the same time, Ukrainian forces have destroyed ten Russian armoured combat vehicles, military personnel and several ammunition depots, Shtupun claimed. “With the help of tactical movements, the Ukrainian army is strengthening defenses in the Luhansk region,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his nightly video address. “That really is where the toughest situation is now.”
