Argentina receives half-million doses of Sputnik V

Another half million Sputnik V vaccines arrived on Monday in Argentina from Russia, as the local government warned of a possible second wave of coronavirus cases, already affecting neighboring countries.

Another half million Sputnik V vaccines arrived on Monday in Argentina from Russia, as the local government warned of a possible second wave of coronavirus cases, already affecting neighboring countries. Argentina Health Minister Carla Vizzotti said that with this arrival the country has received a total of 4.8 million doses.

"So you have to see the global context in relation to the vaccine production and, really, it's an important achievement that Argentina has maintained the arrival of vaccines and vaccination since the end of December,"  Vizzotti said. Argentine authorities are stepping up vaccination as neighboring countries are experiencing an upsurge in coronavirus cases. To date, Argentina has reported 2,252,172 COVID-19 cases and 54,671 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
