Demonstrators took to the streets of the Peruvian capital, Lima, on Saturday to protest against the administration of President Pedro Castillo as he faces multiple corruption probes.

Hundreds marched to reach the General Attorney's office, where they demanded Castillo's to resignation.

Andres Capelletti, among the demonstrators, said prosecutor Patricia Benavides had their support in the investigation "to demonstrate that Pedro Castillo is corrupt criminal working for a criminal organization."

This week, Benavides launched a new federal investigation against Castillo, the sixth such inquiry against him during the year he has been president.

Prosecutor Patricia Benavides will investigate Castillo and his Minister of Transportation, Geiner Alvarado, for allegedly being members of a criminal organization.

Previously, prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for Castillo's sister-in-law Yenifer Paredes for allegedly being part of an asset-laundering criminal network.
