Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro demanded on Wednesday at the United Nation's General Assembly meeting that the United States and Europe lift sanctions from his country.

"Our demand is morally just," reiterated Maduro after making his demand.

Venezuela broke relations with the United States in 2019 stating that the U.S. had made plans to destabilize his government and force his removal.

Washington froze all work with the Venezuelan government prohibiting U.S. citizens and international partners to do business with Venezuela in an attempt to pressure Maduro to leave power.

On Wednesday, Maduro spoke about the process of dialogue between his government and members of Venezuela's opposition parties which is being facilitated by the Mexican government.

"We are implementing a comprehensive agenda enabling us to make headway in our social and economic recovery for Venezuela through dialogue."

Maduro failed to recognize last week's  findings of the UN's fact finding mission into human rights abuses  stating that Venezuela's judicial system has played a "significant role" in state repression in the country, citing widespread allegations of rights violations.

The experts say the country's judicial system has allowed repeated rights violations against opponents of President Nicolas Maduro's government, which have included allegations of enforced disappearance, torture - including sexual violence - and arbitrary killings.

The legal system weakened just as a state policy to quash opposition has grown since 2014, the year after Maduro took office, they said.
