'Threat To Democracy': Trump Blames Democrats’ Rhetoric for July Assassination Attempt
Trump said, “I probably took a bullet to the head because of the things that they say about me. They talk about democracy. ‘I’m a threat to democracy.’
Trump vs Harris Debate: Former US President Donald Trump during the debate claimed that the Democrats’ rhetoric against him was responsible for the assassination attempt he survived in July, when he was shot in the ear. Trump said, “I probably took a bullet to the head because of the things that they say about me. They talk about democracy. ‘I’m a threat to democracy.’ They’re the threat to democracy.”
Trump and Harris took the stage for the high-stakes ABC News presidential debate on September 11. The highly-anticipated debate that began at 6.30am (IST) is being held at the National Constitution Centre in Philadelphia in Pennsylvania
Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt as he addressed his supporters during a rally in Pennsylvania on July 14. The former president, his ear covered in blood, was quickly pulled away by Secret Service agents.
The first question proposed for the presidential debate was the economy and cost of living.' In response to the question of whether Harris thinks Americans were doing better now than they were four years ago, she discussed her goals to support small companies and families. She further targeted Trump, claiming that he would lower taxes for "billionaires and big corporations."
Harris also accused Trump of caring only about himself. She criticized him for cutting taxes for corporations and the wealthy while imposing more tariffs on ordinary Americans.
" Donald Trump actually has no plan for you, because he's more interested in defending himself than in looking out for you," Harris said. She emphasized her vision of an "opportunity economy" that puts the needs of everyday people first.
Harris Blasts Trump on China and COVID-19 During Debate
Harris swiftly shifted the focus from Trump’s claim that the Biden administration maintained many of his China tariffs to a broader critique of his China policy and COVID-19 response.
“Let’s be clear,” Harris said, “the Trump administration led to one of the highest trade deficits in American history.”
Turning to Trump’s dealings with China, she added, “Under Donald Trump ’s presidency, he ended up selling American technology to China, aiding their military modernization. He essentially sold us out. A true policy on China should prioritize ensuring that the United States leads in the 21st century competition.”
