A life-size sponge cake dedicated to 'soon-to-be-parents' Prince Harry and Meghan Markle steals the show

A talented British baker and cake artist has created a life-sized sponge cake dedicated to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

A talented British baker and cake artist has created a life-sized sponge cake dedicated to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Lara Mason from Brownhills spent over 250 hours creating a beautiful cake in the likeness of Prince Harry and Meghan. In a nod to the soon-to-be-parents, her beautiful cake shows Daddy-to-be prince harry carrying a green- bag which contains baby products like lotion, milk bottle, some napkins and a teddy bear. On his side is mommy-to-be Meghan Markle holding a 'Baby book'.

"With added baby bump and all the necessities that come with having a little one," wrote Ms Mason on Facebook, sharing a picture of her massive cake.

According to reports, the 6.5-foot tall Harry and Meghan cake was baked using 300 eggs and 50 kg of fondant icing. Everything used in the cake, except its frame, is edible.

The cake could feed upto 1,000 people and was on display at Cake International, a baking festival where it received a lot of praise and appreciation from spectators.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently announced that they are expecting their first child. Announcing the news, Kensington Palace tweeted  "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,"

The royal couple is currently globetrotting and during their stop in New Zealand on Monday, Prince Harry referred to his and Meghan Markle's soon-to-be-born child as 'our little bump' Further, he also thanked everyone for their hospitality during their stay and revealed that he and Meghan Markle are extremely grateful to be there. 

The international tour is said to be the first one for the Duke and Duchess since they got married, apart from a two-day visit to Ireland. Prince Harry, the sixth in line to the British throne took up vows with former Hollywood actress and longtime girlfriend Meghan. The celebration was attended by several international celebrities including Indian actress Priyanka Chopra.
