The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's US interview with chat show host Oprah Winfrey has drawn a mixed reaction from people in the UK.

Ernest Lee, 76, said he was very "sad" for the Queen. "The whole thing is so sad. It's not necessary we have enough problems in this world without people making more."

But David Whitcroft, 49, who works in fintech, welcomed the fact that Meghan was being open about her mental health problems.

"I find it very helpful that both Meghan and Harry and talking about mental health', he said.

In the deeply personal interview Meghan said things had got so bad during her time with the royal family that at times she didn't want to live anymore.

She said a low point was when Harry was asked by one member of his family "how dark" their son's skin might be.

Prince Harry also revealed that his father, Prince Charles, stopped taking his calls.

The interview aired overnight in the US.
