Malala Yousafzai's husband Asser Malik reveals why they cut ‘victory cake’ at wedding

Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai recently got married to Asser Malik in her Birmingham home. Aseer Malik shared a picture on Twitter where he and Malala can be seen cutting a cake. In the post, Malala’s husband explained that they were following the cricket team’s tradition by cutting a “victory cake”. 

While sharing the picture of it on Twitter, Asser Malik shared a heartwarming message for his wife. In the post, he mentioned that he has found a friend and partner in Malala and thanked everyone for their wishes. 'In Malala, I found the most supportive friend, a beautiful and kind partner — I'm so excited to spend the rest of our life together. Thank you all for the wishes on our Nikkah. In following our cricket team's tradition, we had to do a victory cake cutting.'

Malala marries Asser in her Birmingham home

Malala Yousafzai tied the knot in a small nikkah ceremony with Asser Malik in her Birmingham home with their families. Yousafzai took to social media to announce the "precious day" in her life. She further said that she was excited to embark upon the journey ahead with her husband. Sharing the post on Instagram, Malala Yousafzai said, 'Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.'

Malala shared a few pictures from her intimate nikkah ceremony which was held at her Birmingham home. Several politicians and celebrities congratulated Malala on her wedding. Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to Twitter to congratulate her, 'Congratulations, Malala and Asser! Sophie and I hope you enjoyed your special day - we’re wishing you a lifetime of happiness together." Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra in a story on Instagram congratulated her by writing, ''Congratulations Malala. Wishing you so much joy and happiness. You are an absolute vision!!.'
