A man has pleaded guilty at a court in Cardiff to a charge relating to the flight in which Argentine footballer Emiliano Sala died in 2019.

David Henderson, 66, admitted attempting to discharge a passenger without valid permission or authorisation.

Henderson is to stand trial accused of endangering the safety of an aircraft.

A single-engine plane carrying the 28-year-old player and pilot David Ibbotson, 59, came down near Guernsey in January 2019.

Henderson is alleged to have organised the flight.

Sala had been scheduled to join Cardiff City in a transfer deal from French club Nantes.

The striker's body was recovered the following month, but both the pilot's body and the plane's wreckage have never been found.
