England's Ministry of Justice has reportedly asked the public to name a mega-prison worth £235m "mega-prison", which began construction last month in Northamptonshire, a county in the East Midlands of England. The netizens have started to compare it with the debacle of Boaty McBoatface. As per a proposal in March 2016 online poll, the ship was to be named by the public that would eventually be named RRS Sir David Attenborough. Things turned funny and absurd when former BBC Radio Jersey presenter James Hand jokingly suggested Boaty McBoatface, a name the public liked and that quickly became the most popular choice.

The naming procedure
The category C jail for up to 1,680 criminals is on the site of the old jail which closed in December 2012 because of its poor condition. British Government has appealed to the public to "embrace the history and culture of Wellingborough" while naming it. A panel of local representatives is supposed to zero down on a name after making a shortlist. Moreover, The Queen, the Prisons Minister Lucy Frazer, and Justice Secretary Robert Buckland will also have to agree on the name.

Netizens' reaction on the announcement
Netizens find the announcement another example of Boaty McBoatface debacle. A user said that England "is going weird". Similarly, another user said that she foresees no way this could go. Another raises the issue of the whopping investment in prison. A fourth calls it "Bullingdon club" while a fifth suggests "Proley McProlePlace."
Wait, what...?

We're 'Boaty McBoatface-ing' prisons now. Who thought this was a good or appropriate idea?
This country is just going weird. https://t.co/rsNF8SmjWA#JailyMcJailFace #HMPEndTheDrugWar

As a baby dies when the mother gives birth in her cell, & we hear of 109th woman 2 die in prison since 2007 - you’d think @MoJGovUK had more important things to do than name a prison that should never be built. Imagine £235m invested in community support. https://t.co/9B0k9Z8E1A

You are being invited to come up with a name for a new £235m UK “mega prison” in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, which began construction last month. “Proley McProlePlace”? https://t.co/NqLPEf2wmV
