The U.K. government on Friday confirmed 14,543 people in the country have tested positive for the new coronavirus, with 759 deaths.

The announcement from senior cabinet minister Michael Gove came hours after U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Health Secretary Matt Hancock both announced they had tested positive for the new virus.

The new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms for most people, but for some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness or death.
