The U.K. government on Tuesday defended its new three-tier system of coronavirus restrictions after local authorities criticised it for not providing enough economic support.
Speaking to U.K. broadcaster Sky, the U.K. Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government Robert Jenrick said the central government and local government "worked well together."
However, Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham told Sky he was "not in favour" of the tiered restrictions because of the potential for the local economic downturn.
