London school children have planned a march on November 8, to highlight the impacts of climate change by marching through the streets wearing gas masks. The campaign, 'Masked Crusaders' is created to spread awareness of the adverse effects of idling car engines on the environment. The gases emitted by the vehicles contribute negatively to the climate emergency as they produce twice as many exhaust gases as emitted by moving vehicles. The campaign was started by the parents who realized that many cars were left running during the school drop-off and pick-up times which further adds up to the polluted air their children breathe every day.

'Engines Off'
'Engines Off' is also a part of the Masked Crusaders campaign which urges people to stop engine idling. Engine idling briefly means running engine while the vehicle is parked and remains 'idle' around the school especially when parents come to drop their kids and then pick them up. So the members of the campaign basically want other parents to switch their engines off. The campaign is all about increasing awareness among people about the adverse effects as well as the dangers of leaving engines running.

The 'Masked Crusaders' march
During the march, the group has urged the parents to put up posters on cars and buildings while the children march in the city wearing masks and transform themselves into 'Masked Crusaders'. The march is scheduled to take place in schools all over London who will chant, “Cough, cough, engine off” and has invited other students to join the cause and contribute in taking action against climate change. 'Masked Crusaders' is not the only group fueled by climate emergency. London has also witnessed a series of protests by another activist group, 'Extinction Rebellion'. The Extinction Rebellion schedules non-violence protests demanding immediate action from the UK government on the climate crisis by assembling in various parts of London along with the entire world.
