UK weather: MeT Officials issue warning for heavy rainfall in UK

UK's weather department has warned of severe weather resulting in heavy rainfall within the regions of Wales, Southern England, the Midlands, East Anglia and parts of Scotland. Torrential rain and thunderstorm forecast on October 1 has triggered more than 200 flood alerts and warnings and prompted an evacuation notice in Norfolk. Some regions are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfalls which are equivalent to two weeks of rain in less than an hour. The Met department has issued a severe yellow weather alert for torrential rains across Wales, southern England, the Midlands, East Anglia and parts of Scotland.

MeT Officials: Spray and flooding could make the driving conditions difficult 

The weather forecasters have warned that there was a small chance that the floods could damage homes and businesses, power cuts and pose a threat to life. According to the Met officials, spray and flooding could make the driving conditions difficult and blocking of some roads. Meteorologist Luke Miall said the slow-moving clouds on Tuesday is expected to result in 40-50 mm rainfall within some areas in a couple of hours. A precautionary evacuation notice has also been issued by the authorities of the Norfolk coast at Hunstanton, Heacham, and Snettisham.

People were warned to avoid to go to the seashores 

The Environment Agency said a high tide around 8:40 am on Tuesday combined with winds of upto category-6 could flood the caravans and the properties in the region. People were warned to avoid to go to the seashores in the southwest due to a combination of high tides and strong winds. Rains and 60 mph wind may hit the UK again at the end of the week with the remnants of Hurricane Lorenzo potentially affecting parts of the British Isles.
