After a chaotic incident that killed five people at a Halloween party on November 2, organized in a rental house in California, the Chief-executive of Airbnb Brian Chesky said that the company will put a ban on ‘ party houses’ considering the safety and security of the hosts and the guests.
Chesky tweeted a ban on ‘party houses’
A sudden shootout on Thursday night killed five people and created horror among all the partygoers who were seen terrified and running to secure their lives on the streets of Orinda, a suburb in the San Francisco. In a number of tweets posted by Chesky on Twitter after the incident took place, he contemplated and said that he feels disheartened thinking about the families and neighbours. The shootout had a huge impact on the people living near the location of the tragedy. He on behalf of Airbnb extended his support to the families of those who lost their loved ones. In his successive tweets, he announced a ban on ‘party houses’ and further ‘redoubled efforts’ to take serious action against the unauthorized parties.

Increase in safety measures
Brian Chesky announced an increase in the safety measures while renting houses which would include monitoring of high-risk reservations which have been categorized by Airbnb, with the help of their risk detection technology. Further, there will be the deployment of the rapid response team for the rental houses particularly the ‘party houses’. He gave the responsibility to Margaret Richardson to impose the new rules and regulations.

According to the police officials of Orinda, there was a social media advertisement for the mansion party, reported by the international media. The incident happened on the night of October 31, when a gunman started firing randomly at the people. Out of five victims, four died on the spot. The fifth victim was reported dead the next day. The incidence has created a sense of horror among the residents of Orinda. Social media is flooded with complaints of unauthorized parties in the Airbnb rentals.
