After attending the Roundtable meeting chaired by PM Modi at Hotel Post Oak, Houston, British Petroleum (BP) PLC Dev Sanyal, on Saturday, has said that PM Modi's vision for energy justice has resonated throughout the world. He added that inspite of being a major oil player, BP is focused on investing in renewable energy. Speaking about BP's 100-year long history with India, Sanyal added that they have further investments lined up. He also expressed his pride in BP's presence in India.
"The Prime Minister's vision for energy justice has resonated not just in India but also across the world around affordability, access, and sustainability.BP has been a major player in the energy sector in India for 100 years. That (Renewable energy) remains a big focus over what we are doing. The combination of gas and renewables is a partnership that is very important. Our company continues to invest in India. We already have invested $10 billion in India and have 7500 people who work in India. We are proud of our presence and continue to work for the same," said Sanyal, speaking to reporters.
Echoing similar sentiments, Emerson President Mike Train also shared his company's investment in India. He said, " We are very active in Indian Market. He (PM Modi) sees the energy sector as an important aspect and wants to take it forward. The PM shared his outlook and enthusiasm about the energy sector." IHS Markit's Vice Charman - Daniel Yergin added that a deal had been signed between India and Tellurian gas on Natural gas.
According to PTI, both Tellurian and Indian company Petronet Signed an MOU for upto five Million Tonnes of LNG through Equity Investment in Driftwood project in Louisiana. Both the companies will reportedly endeavor to finalize the transaction agreements by 31 March 2020. These MoUs were signed on the sidelines of PM Modi's meeting with CEO of Energy Sectors, as per PTI. Other major US Companies including BP PLC, Tellurian, Exxonmobil, IHS Markit, Schlumberger, and Emerson Electric Company attended the meeting.
Kicking off his jam-packed visit to the United States on Saturday, PM Modi met with top energy sector CEOs at a Roundtable meeting in Houston, as shared by MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar. He added that the Prime Minister concluded a fruitful meeting with them discussing matters on working together for energy security. He added that the meeting focused on expanding mutual investment opportunities between India and the US. PM Modi arrived in Houston on Saturday noon.

On September 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a visit to the United States of America. In his six-day long visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Houston-based Texas India Forum will host a community summit in honour of PM Modi at the NRG Stadium on September 22. The NRG stadium is one of America's largest professional football stadiums and is home to the Houston Texans franchise. The Texas India Forum, a not-for-profit organisation, confirmed that they expect 50,000 people to attend the mega event billed as "Howdy, Modi!"
