Colorado: Kyler Nipper started with 'Kyler Kicks' to help people

In the year 2016 Kyler Nipper who was just 11-years-old then was reportedly severely bullied by one of his classmates who allegedly stabbed him multiple times in the chest and shoulder with a sharp pencil. Kyler ended up in an emergency room in Colorado Springs and was hospitalized with a breathing tube for three days. Kyler was apparently bullied and teased because he walked on his tiptoes due to a condition known as idiopathic toe walking. His shorter than normal Achilles tendons prevented his heels from touching the ground. About a week after the incident, he reportedly put a shoe donation box outside his family's apartment with 'Kyler's Kicks' written all over the boxes so that he could help other people who were being bullied or feeling ashamed about having shabby shoes.

Kyler Kicks

Kyler's mother, Sherise Nipper reportedly claimed that over months many people donated. Local business also donated a used party bus so she and Kyler could drive around low-income neighborhoods once a month. Families would reportedly hop aboard the bus and pick out whatever kind of shoes they desired. Due to financial problems, the Nipper family soon shifted to Las Vegas but Kyler never gave up on his initiative. Ever since they shifted Kyler's Kicks has supposedly collected and given out more than 25,000 pairs of shoes mostly to at-risk children, teenagers, and homeless people.

Kyler Kicks partnerships

Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation and Zappos for Good are reportedly partners that now donate shoes to his cause. Maya Smith the executive director of Gaga's foundation apparently takes several suitcases filled with new and gently used shoes to Kyler whenever she visits Las Vegas. Linda LaHodny, a social worker who recently retired says that the Las Vegas Rescue Mission's director of development, Heather Williams regularly hands out several dozen pairs of shoes from Kyler's Kicks with evening meals. At present, Kyler who is 14 now, reportedly says that he devotes about five hours a day to Kyler's Kicks, which he fits in between his home studies. After the incident, Kyler was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress syndrome and received counseling to heal. However, he believes that his PTSD actually started healing when he saw stranger's faces lit up the minute they were offered a new pair of shoes.
