Calling out US President Donald Trump on his absurd claim on Monday - that Indian PM Narendra Modi has approached Trump for help with the 'disputed Kashmir'region, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has said that Trump has definitely not been briefed or has understood what Modi was saying, asking the MEA to clarify India's stance that India has never sought his intercession.
Earlier in the day, while meeting Pakistan PM Imran Khan in the White House, international news agencies had reported that Donald Trump has offered to be a mediator in the Indo-Pak's 'disputed Kashmir' issue after PM Modi approaching him for intervention. Sitting alongside Trump in the White House, the Pakistan PM Imran Khan has asked the US President to conciliate the Kashmir dispute with India.
On the other hand, Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has demanded an answer from PM Modi for this 'gross betrayal of India'.
However, despite Trump's declaration, the Indian government has never requested a third party interference in the Kashmir dispute, furthermore, has assertively told Pakistan that 'terror and talks cannot go hand in hand.'
Meanwhile, during Imran Khan's maiden US visit, US President Donald Trump has instructed Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to not repeat the history of arrest and release with respect to Hafeez Saeed and proceed to prosecute him this time, according to a top Trump administration official.
Siding with ally India, Trump has allegedly directed Pakistan to lift restrictions on India-Afghanistan trade through land routes passing through Pakistan's territory.
Trump has also reportedly intimated Khan of the various terror networks like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Haqqani, which continue to operate out of Pakistan. Trump has also reportedly expressed concerns about the infiltration of Pakistan intelligence agencies by these terror organisations.
