New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says deaths from the coronavirus continue to climb steeply in New York, topping 1,500 by Tuesday.

Cuomo said that the projection models New York is looking at have the apex of the crisis hitting in between 7 and 21 days.

Cuomo also said it has become nearly impossible to buy the life saving ventilators that the state will need for the patients with the worst cases of COVID-19.

"It's like being on eBay with 50 other states bidding on a ventilator and you see the bid go up because California bid, Illinois bid, Florida bid, New York bids, California re bids. That's literally what we do. I mean, how inefficient. And then FEMA gets involved and FEMA starts bidding," said Cuomo.
