David Holland, a London High Court Judge has apologized after his cell phone rang during the hearing which filled the room with the sound of a classic 1960s tune. Judge David Holland was assessing the worries of ecological campaigners about the effect of the HS2 rail line when his handset's ringtone, the classic Soul Limbo, was heard. The judge apologized inside the court and switched off his phone immediately at the London court on Wednesday.

Judge Holland also works as a barrister
The song, by American band Booker T and the MGs, was for a long time used to present the BBC's Test match cricket coverage. He isn't the only judge whose court proceedings have been hindered by phones going off and the justice system is giving indications of adjusting to the innovation. Judge Holland also works as a barrister. His chambers site records his interests as watching Test matches and says he is a member of the Lancashire County Cricket Club, Surrey County Cricket Club, and the MCC. Ecological campaigners are eagerly waiting for the judge's decision on their most recent court battle. HS2 managers state protestors are unlawfully occupying an area close to a building site in Hillingdon, west London, and need Judge Holland to allow them possession.

Justice Holman offered reassurance when a phone rang while he was overseeing a High Court hearing in London. In 2018, a judge had a mobile phone conversation with an office clerk while overseeing a High Court hearing in London.
