Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to 'Howdy, Modi! Shared Dreams, Bright Futures' community gathering in Texas, Republic spoke to the Indian-origin members of the Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Dallas. According to one member, the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) community had been waiting for this occasion. She reckoned that there were really looking forward to watching the amazing moment when PM Modi would be speaking. Another NRI expressed that the PM’s arrival was a privilege for them.
The NRI said that it was an honour for the Indian-origin community to have PM Modi in Texas, describing him as “the world’s best leader”. The man mentioned that the PM had put India on top of the world map.
Referring to US President Donald Trump’s presence at the event, he opined,” You can see the two suns coming together on the planet. What both of them have done for the world is amazing.“
Another NRI, who was part of the group, stated that they were extremely excited about the whole event in Houston. He revealed that people were waiting for it for a long time and hoped that it would prove to be an interesting time for 50,000 people in the NRG stadium.
Stating that there had been an overwhelming response, an NRI observed that there were about 3,00,000 Indian Americans in Texas.
“I have been getting calls all day around. How do we get to the stadium? Everything is sold out,” he pointed out.
Another man put forth the fact that this was touted as the biggest rally that an international head of a state would address in the US. There was also an intervention from the crowd that there could be well over 1,00,000 people, interested in the event. Opining that only 50,000 people had been registered with about 10,000 on the waiting list, an NRI said that many who were seeking to get in would be unfortunately disappointed in the end.
