A spokesperson for the Treasury Department told the Financial Times: "We are beginning the internal review process for a US nominee. We look forward to working with the governors to select a new leader."

Ivanka lacks a background in international trade economics, unlike other names on the list but has been a businesswoman.

The President of US has already been accused of nepotism for choosing to appoint his daughter as the special adviser for White House.
