Looters broke in and damaged a number of stores and businesses in Santa Monica, California, during protests on Sunday.

One of the businesses was Power.TV, owned by John Lemp, who returned Monday to survey the damage.

Lemp says thousands of dollars worth of equipment, including television monitors, were stolen or destroyed.

He was watching the looting on his surveillance camera and even saw the camera being stolen from its mount.

"Just to watch it all get yanked out, it's devastating," Lemp said.

The unrest happened not far from a peaceful demonstration near the oceanfront city's famous pier as looters targeted shops near the popular Third Street Promenade.

They also broke into a Gap store and a Vans sneaker store, walking out with boxes with no police in sight.
