Hundreds of people marched across a Detroit bridge on Friday in what was billed as a reenactment of the civil rights era march in Selma.

Marchers and police officers locked arms as they crossed the MacArthur Bridge connecting downtown and Belle Isle, a large park in the Detroit River.

"I'm just grateful to find the silver lining in George Floyd's death. And that's for the people now to listen, to hear, because around the world we're seeing this," said marcher Zara Northover.

Kamilia Landrum with the Detroit National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was one of the march organizers.

"We're not just walking and leaving the problems behind us, but one direction forward toward the solutions," she said.
