The Cinderella Latte

The Cinderella Latte was created in the summer of 2010, just a few months after Howard Cox started working at Starbucks. She had previously added different flavors to her favorite White Chocolate Mochas and assembled many drinks behind the Starbucks counter. It came to Howard-Cox naturally that she would do the same, when the most popular drink, Pumpkin Spice Latte returned to the stores after the fall. She reportedly said that she has always loved the white mochas and is obsessed with Disney. So after Pumpkin Latte returned, Howard Cox wanted to “have fun” with it by mixing various flavors. When she put white Mocha in everything, it instantly reminded her of the Cinderella's white pumpkin coach. The drink is denoted as sweet, decadent, and frothy. Evidently, the creaminess of the White Chocolate Mocha serves as an appropriate medium for the rich flavor by the other half of the drink, pumpkin spice. It is also acknowledged that it is more of a dessert and less of a drink.

How did the drink gain popularity?

Earlier, when Erica Howard-Cox first created the Latte inspired by Disney. She spent most of her shifts working at the drive-through or at the front of the counter and ask the regulars to try her magical drink. Purportedly, she asked if they have tried the pumpkin spice with white mocha, and how she calls it a Cinderella Latte. That's how the wave of recognition for the drink started. Initially, locals began asking for the Latte and ask for the creator, even when she was off from her shift. Shortly, the news of the drink being popular reached Howard-Cox, for all she knew, the drink had not traveled farther than the Pacific Northwest. Soon, the drink went viral. In 2018, Erica Howard-Cox left Starbucks and devoted time to her son, and husband, James. She is now the owner of an apparel company called 'Happiest Tees On Earth'.
