The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has resigned from her role from the Donald Trump government ahead of the US mid-term elections which are scheduled around November 2018. The reason behind her resignation was not clear. On Monday, October 9, Trump tweeted: ''Big announcement with my friend Ambassador Nikki Haley in the Oval Office at 10:30 am.''
Speaking at the White House, The US President said; ''Nikki Haley, the ambassador to the United Nations, has done a fantastic job, She is someone who gets it. Haley has been with us from the beginning. Haley told me six months ago that she wants to take a little break, she has been a successful governor of South Carolina''.
''What is going on in the world is dangerous , she has done a fantastic job. When she started North Korea was a mess, Now we are getting along. Pompeo thinks the world of Haley. At the end of this year, Nikki will be leaving and will be in constant touch.''
The US President further said that ''She will get to know China, Russia and India as they respect her''.
On this emotional occasion, Haley started her speech by saying:
''It's been an honor of a lifetime. Now the US is respected. Countries may not like what we do but respect what we do.''
She said '' Trade deals have been amazing as they get that the President means business. We have made the UN strong in the past two years. We will put our embassy where we want to put in Israel.''
Haley praised the Trump family by saying '' Melania, Ivanka and Jared are hidden genius. We are a better country because the Trumps are in the administration.
She further said '' Not leaving until the end of the year. I have not set of where will I go. I am a believer of a term limit so I want to step aside. She further said '' No I am not running for 2020 as I will be supporting the President.
When asked why she resigned, Haley remarked:
''Family is not the reason, It is important for the government officials when to step aside.
