Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy said the House impeachment managers did "very well" in laying out their prosecution against former President Donald Trump during the Senate trial over the past two days.  But he said he will wait to make a judgment after he hears both sides.

"You don't make a decision as a juror until you hear both sides, period, end of story," Cassidy said.

The Louisiana Republican said he has a number of questions for the Trump defense team after the Democrats' presentation.

"A few things that they laid out with great care, the timeline in which you see the events unfold and during that timeline, the president's inaction in calling out support for the police officers," Cassidy said. "I hope the defense does explain that," he added.

On Tuesday, Cassidy joined Senate Democrats and five Republicans in a vote to confirm that the impeachment trial was in fact constitutional and should proceed.

At the time of that vote, he made it clear it didn't necessarily mean he would vote to convict the former president, too.
