US Democratic Debate: Joe Biden & Trump's Impeachment draw spotlight

Ohio’s Otterbein College witnessed three-hour-long debate with Joe Biden and impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump taking the centre stage over US politics

On October 15, Ohio’s Otterbein University witnessed a three-hour-long debate with Joe Biden and twelve other Democrats in a crowded presidential debate. The interesting turn was Joe Biden and the impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump taking the centre stage. Certainly, Washington's impeachment inquiry had taken a leap over the US politics overshadowing the Democrats, who have been desperately waiting for a breakout moment. 

The Joe Biden controversy 

However, Donald Trump’s July 25 call to his Ukraine counterpart asking to investigate his political rival has put the spotlight on Joe Biden. The investigation was regarding unconfirmed charges that while Biden held the position of Vice President, he threatened to withhold US aid unless the prosecutor examining the case of the gas company in which Biden’s son was involved was fired. Biden, on the other hand, agreed to withhold the US power unless the prosecution lawyer was fired.

Impeachment inquiry and Joe Biden take the centre stage

During the three-hour debate, Joe Biden seemed struggling to keep his fight for the presidential elections. He shared the stage with Elizabeth Warren. She seems to have gathered public attention and is considered a strong candidate for the presidential elections. However, both the candidates are expecting assaults from the rivals. Another candidate is Bernie Sanders, who is also under pressure to save his position in the elections after he was sidelined by a coronary heart attack.

The blame battle 

The impeachment inquiry and the scandal over Trump’s communication with the Ukraine President have made to the headlines and will surely be a topic of interest during the Debate proceedings. Trump has openly accused Joe Biden and his son of corruption. On the other hand, Joe Biden on Tuesday tweeted saying that Trump is leading the most corrupt governments of all time as far as American history is concerned. Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden broke his silence while talking to global media. He said that his business judgment might have backfired but he never broke any law.
